Great success for the Maui Ultra Fins Kite Surf Team on Sylt!

By | News | No Comments

The Maui Ultra Fins team riders Jan-Niklas Paasch, Jannis Maus Annet  and
Jan Bremer showed a great performance in the challenging conditions during
the Sylt Summer Opening 2016.

Annet Bremer was the one and only girl, competing in the men’s racing fleet.
She achieved a stunning 10th place. In the Formula Raceboard juniors
division Jan Bremer scored a second place, followed by Jan-Niklas Paasch in
third. Jan-Niklas also achieved a second place in the juniors Slalom Race

The most successful Maui Ultra Fins rider was the reigning German Champion
Jannis Maus with a first place finish in the Formula Raceboard discipline
and a third place in the big air contest. Jannis reports:
“Starting of on Wednesday, riders first had challenging Eastern offshore
conditions on the island of Sylt. Although the weather was beautiful, we
were fighting hard out there with gusts blowing up to 25 knots. After 8
races, we were done for the day and finally fell into bed. Next day, the
Skippers’ Meeting was set for 10:00am with a first possible start for the
youth Slalom at 10:45, so there was a little more time to rest in the sun.
When racing started in the afternoon, we were able to complete 3 more races
and I was able to dominate all three of them.

With shifting winds ranging from moderate to strong north-western winds on
Friday, Freestyle was on schedule and continued until the end of
competition. Even there I could score a third place in the Big Air
discipline. So, I’m looking forward now to the next part of the German
championship on Fehmarn in the beginning of June.”

Good luck to our kite team for the summer tour!

Slalom-Race-Carbon-Weed Fin now available

By | News | No Comments

Over the past two years we have developed and extensively tested a weed version of the Slalom-Race-Carbon. The result is the ultimate weed fin that will delight even the most demanding slalom and speed sailor.

The test team around Kurosh Kiani is absolutely satisfied with the final product. Because of its thin profile the fin is also excellent for use on downwind courses, as tests by our team rider Birger Bruhns at Deutsche Speed Championship 2015 on Fehmarn showed. It is produced the same way as the Slalom-Race-Carbon at THM – made in Germany.

The characteristics and performance are almost identical to the straight version: Very easy to control even in extreme conditions and extremely fast on speed runs, yet powerful.

Best suited for: Slalom / Race / Speed, especially in weedy conditions

Lengths: 20-42 cm (by 2 cm-steps)
Systems: PB, DTT, TT
Prices: 339-439 €

Available from January 2016.

World championship 2015 for Iballa Moreno and Philip Koester

By | News | No Comments

Top of the World.

Maui Ultra Fins riders Philip Köster and Iballa Ruano Moreno were crowned champions of the world at the end of the 2015 PWA Wave World Tour!

Philip Köster had a great year of competition and he absolutely dominated the events in Pozo and Klitmöller. He showed outstanding performances on the waves and especially in the air. His almost completed triple forward loop during the final in Pozo was definitely the highlight of the 2015 wave season. After winning his third world title Philip is even more motivated and we’re looking forward to more breathtaking action from Philip in 2016! Thumbs up for our World champion!

Iballa Ruano Moreno took the title in the women’s division after winning the prestigious Aloha Classic event for the third time in her career. By winning the 2015 wave world title Iballa completed, together with her sister Daida, a total of 25 world titles for the twins what an amazing achievement by these two outstanding athletes! Having won Pozo and Tenerife, Daida got second in the 2015 wave world tour right behind her sister. The twins were joined by Sarah-Quita Offringa for the final spot on the podium, which is thereby completely owned by Maui Ultra Fins riders.

Lina Erpenstein organized the cherry on the cake: PWA Youth World Champion in her first season. Congratulations!

As Sarah-Quita is becoming a real threat on the wave tour, she also had an amazing year of competition. After finishing 3rd in the waves and becoming freestyle world champion for an unbelievable 8th time, she is also leading the slalom world rankings!

Big congratulations to our world champions and all the other Maui Ultra Fins riders after a great competition season in 2015!

New teamrider Caterina Stenta

By | News | No Comments

Here what Caterina has written on her website:

Proud to announce I am a Maui Ultra Fins teamrider!

I will have new engines under my boards that will push me in the waveriding! I am already sailing them here in Pozo, as thruster, quad and twin setup, they give me an amazing feeling, they are really fast and they give me more manoeuvrability in the waveriding.

I am using the X-twin, the X-quad and the X-tri fins as my boards have 5 boxes to play with. I am using sizes from 14.5cm to 8cm.

I can now enjoy the whole range of conditions by usingdifferent setups. Really happy I can finally play with the fins and thus improve my sailing in the waves.
